Last week, I linked to Alexander Obenauer’s lab notes. Since I posted that link, he created an early version Obsidian plugin that provides cross-reference navigation that looks super useful.
Over at Macdrifter, Gabe looked at code snippet managers this week. At this point, I can’t really imagine using a standalone code snippet manager: Obsidian already supports code blocks, including with syntax highlighting in the preview. The ability to include notes and cross-links and such along with the snippet seems like a win. I can imagine some simple plugins for Obsidian that would make it work better for snippet management (like one-click code block copy).
Foam is kind of like Obsidian, but built atop VS Code using a collection of extensions and settings. FWIW, I’m quite happy with Obsidian and don’t see a particularly great reason to switch, even though I also use VS Code regularly.
Since I’m using Obsidian now, I should collect interesting tips and tricks. Today, one of the founders just linked to awesome-obsidian, which I should keep an eye on.
